Mentoring Objectives:
- To promote the optimum development of all faculty and staff members of our campus communities
- To recognize that faculty and staff members have concerns about a range of professional and personal responsibilities
- To build a relationship to enable constructive, helpful feedback and discussions outside of the established and formal peer oversight procedures
- To facilitate the orientation and career development of faculty and staff members relative to the mission of the University of Hawaii
- To afford faculty and staff members the opportunity to define and establish career goals
- To recognize and successfully address challenges
- To network with other faculty and staff members
- To recognize personal and professional strengths and explore ways to utilize them
- To promote entry-level survival during the first year
- To lay the groundwork for career development and advancement including assistance with reappointment applications and tenure and promotion dossiers
